ok, so maybe I don’t do all 15 things, so here are my comments on each:
15 Great Ways to Relax at Work
http://blog.liferemix.net/15-great-ways-relax-work
1) I don’t eat breakfast, but coffee gets my day going. I do have a box of cerial at my desk, but I only eat that when I get to work early.
2) Ok, so this is one more that I don’t really do if I have a choice. I have had to get to work early, and I must say, if I can beat the traffic, it does make for a better start to the day, but me geting in at around 9:15 does the same
3) Yup - I meditate, and yes it works.
4) Ya - good long breaths paced throughout the day help. Also, what works for me is to get up and strech walk. It helps relax the muscles.
5) Herman Miller Aeron baby - the envy of junior workers ;)
6) My desk is clean as it can get. No clutter, no paper, and no wires. Wireless mouse, bluetooth adapter in my dock for the rest of my gadgets. Wireless headphones. When I leave my desk, I make sure it’s as clean as possible to start off the next day well.
7 & 8) I got this nice pair of Motorola S9 headphones. I’m either streaming music from my phone, or via Sirius from my laptop. Jazz or Blues = good work music. Even when I turn off the music, I leave the headset on to block ambient noise. It helps me stay focused.
9) I either go out for lunch, or eat in the break room w/ co-workers. On nice days, I try and go out and get some sun.
10) ok - I definitely don’t do the whole Nap thing at work. I don’t care what people say, it’s all perception…
11) Ping-Pong table at work gets a decent amount of use from me. We have a pool table too - which I use once in a while
12) Um, you don’t have to answer if you don’t want to, but what is nice about IM is that it reduces the need for longer conversations than needed.
13) Yup - I sometimes close Outlook alltogether and even set my Blackberry to silent. If the world comes to an end, I don’t think i’ll hear about it from my Crackberry anyways.
14) Only when there is something funny, I laugh. But overalll, don’t sweat the little stuff. So stay motivated and positive I say.
15) You gotta like what you do and the work environment in general. You’re spending 40 - 60 hours at work (or more if you’re crazy like me).
So I like these types of suggestions because I think they actually help a lot.
Cheers!
